Sakurai Sho Question

In earlier magazines and in shows like 真夜中の嵐, the kanji used for “Sakura” in “Sakurai” is 桜. Does anyone happen to know when and why it was changed to 櫻?
when he enter the audition, he wrote 桜 (more modern way to write ‘sakura’ than櫻) because to write 櫻 is harder, so he wanted to make it simple. Since 2005~2006 (i’m not sure) he start to use his own, true, kanji...

12. Do you know the furi (dance steps) to any of the Arashi songs?
I know all of them. You see that crazy girl on the con DVD, being crazy? Yeah, that’s me. I know the furi to some of their songs. You know, the usual. I only know the “Arashi-arashi-for dream” furi. I don’t know any furi.
